POLICE REPORT
Since the last report there has been one incidence of burglary. A suspicious car has been seen in the area and if anyone notes the registration number it should be passed to the police. There has been an incidence of an unlocked car parked in a yard, which has been entered, and the contents strewn around, it is not believed this had been reported to the police. Vigilance is needed. PCSO Ciacci was thanked for attending the meeting.
MINUTE OF MEETING HELD ON 12.8.08
The minutes had been circulated before the meeting. It was requested by Cllr Cable in writing, that the last sentence of 6(e) should be moved to 6(f), this was amended and it was proposed by Cllr. Clark. and seconded by Cllr Mrs. Barber that the minutes be approved. This was agreed.
5. MATTERS ARISING
a) Trent Vale
Partnership – forms and information
have been received from Hester Kapur.
It seems that £2000 maximum is available for any one project.
The Meadow promotion and Archive training to be considered.
The Chairman will complete the forms for approval at the next meeting.
b) Meadow Project
– The meadow has now been sprayed,
will need mown in about a month and then sprayed again.
May need more seed.
c) Village Hall –Cllr
Baines reported that the ridge tile has now been replaced.
A survey will be carried out to ascertain the condition of the hall and a
timescale drawn up of any work needed.
d) Bridleway 25 – The Chairman met with Laura Summers who has confirmed that a Bridleway sign will be put up next to the Private Road sign. Steps will be taken to have the unsuitable gate removed. Some trees on Wharf Road need trimmed, as they are too low. Cutting of the new footpath will increase to twice a year. A sign to be put up at the end of Wharf Road saying “No Motor Vehicles”. If sufficient funds available at the end of March repairs will be carried out to Clayhough Lane. The footpaths that had been reported as overgrown are now clear after harvesting. The footpath near the Boat Club still needs attention.
e) Land Registry – no further news yet.
f) Bus Shelter –
Cllr. Cable has now collected the
new notice board for the Bus Shelter.
The Craft and Carpentry Shop at Rampton Hospital have donated this.
The donation list was circulated; any amendments need to go to Cllr. Mrs.
Barber as soon as possible. The Bus
Shelter and the board will be officially “opened” on the afternoon of the
Octoberfest – 18th October.

g) Village
Maintenance – Hoo Lane
–Anglian Water have acknowledge our latest letter and say it will be passed to
Mr. Caldicott for attention.
Dunham Road –
the hedgerow before the bridge will be
cut back after harvesting. It was
also noted that the hedge alongside the main road to Dunham is overgrowing the
footpath – Cllr Baines to contact Dunham Parish Council about this.
It was noted that some of the ash for lane repairs has been removed from
Broadings Lane. The flower troughs
have now benefited from a donation from the Garden Centre, have been maintained
and now looking as good as can be expected at this stage of the season.
h) Planning – no further word on Holly Folly Farm. An appeal meeting has been held regarding Manor House Park – AGENDA item for next meeting.
i) Village Hall Café – next open on Saturday 4th October
j) Planning Enforcement – response from Mr. Armiger was read, a copy has been given to Cllr Cable.
m) Tree outside The Cottage - the owners of the cottage have now requested that no action is taken.
n) Internet Shopping - a questionnaire needs to be circulated to check on interest.

PUBLIC DISCUSSION
Only one item had been brought to the attention of the council. Mr. Staley of Appletree Homes had presented his plans for the development of the Butchers Arms site. He left details of the plans for circulation and stated that he hoped the official Planning Application would be before the council at the next meeting.

It was proposed by Cllr. Scrini and seconded by Cllr F.Clark that the accounts be approved for payment, this was unanimously agreed.
8. CASUAL VACANCY
Cllr Mrs. A. Clark has resigned from the council. A letter of thanks to be sent. A vacancy notice will be posted and it will also be mentioned in Roundabout. It is hoped a new member can be co-opted to avoid a costly election.
9.
CHRISTMAS LIGHTS
A letter has been received from the Church Council regarding the repairs needed. It was agreed that the income (£125) from Bell Holt and Wharf already received from the Boat Club could now be passed on; the money from the Fishing Club has not yet come in. It was also agreed to send the £200, saved by not having to pay for the ash for Broadings Lane. to the Church now. It is hoped that the repairs will be done in time to have the Christmas Lights on again this year. Spare bulb budget and light feature still need to be discussed. AGENDA

13. LANEHAM LAST
MONTH
a) Congratulations offered to Ellen Hunter winner of 2 gold medals in the paralympics. Ellen previously lived at the Butchers Arms.
b) Dog Fouling – once again a problem, it was agreed that any loose dogs should be reported to the Dog Warden.
c) Bench at Top Town Bridge in need of repair – Cllr Cobb to be contacted.
d) Notice Board at riverside needs varnishing – Cllr. Baines offered to do this.
e) Parking – any breaches should be reported to the police.
There was no further business discussed and the meeting closed at approximately 8.45 p.m.
