‘Casual Vacancy’ Laneham Parish Council

What is a ‘Casual Vacancy’?

It is a ‘vacant’ position on the Parish Council for an interested person to fill if they would like to participate in community projects, issues and general well-being and maintenance of the village and it’s residents.  The person would become a ‘Parish Councillor’.  Laneham Parish Council is normally made up of seven Parish Councillors, but at the moment we are one person short hence the ‘vacancy’.  (This is an unpaid position, though any valid expenses will be re-imbursed).

What would you have to commit to?

Essentially, you would have to commit to attending a monthly meeting and possibly one or 2 other meetings during the course of the year.  You will have to treat the dealings of the Parish Council with due respect and keep up to date on current issues concerning the parish.  You will be the ‘eyes and the ears’ of the village along with your colleagues on the council.  You will have the support of your fellow Parish Councillors and the support of the Parish Clerk and the District and County Councillors too.

Are you interested in helping your village and acting in the best interests of it’s residents?

If you want to have a say in how your village is run (street maintenance, public rights of way, Christmas lights, community activities, planning applications, community policing etc), then please make your interest known by emailing the Parish Clerk, Sfblyth@aol.com
